Winter Recital

Little Miss, had her Winter Recital on Wednesday. She did an amazing job! I have a video of it I'll post (should I ever figure out how to get it on here).

It was really cute!

Okay, we went a little crazy on the glitter gloss...
But she's a jazz danc'n beauty!

BRAVO! BRAVO!

Dearest Anniversary Fairies,

Dearest Anniversary Fairies,

Steve and I will have been married for 12 years next month! And while our love has lasted, alas, some of those wonderful wedding gifts have finally expired. (See pix below.) So fairies, this year we’d love to receive from you a new bedroom! No not furniture (though not choosing a king size bed those many years ago was a serious and regrettable error) some things just need replacing.

Linens:
Our sheets are totally righteous dude! It’s so “holy” that our kids can stick their heads through it. I finally pulled them off the bed when I got tired of getting my foot tangled in that hole. And since a similar demise of two other sheet sets, we are finally down to one mis-matched set of blue cotton and a cream jersey knit.

Last night I slept on a Hello Kitty Pillow case. My dear husband had to choose between Spider Man and a pink one. (Would you believe me if I told you he chose pink?)

Duvet:
Somewhere (and we don’t know where) there is a small hole in our duvet. We pull the covers up and feathers go flying! I have to admit it is pretty comical to wake up with feathers in our hair and the most hilarious episode ensued when my hubby was choking on one that had gotten caught in his throat. Can we say “Duct Tape”? Well, at least that’s one solution should we ever find that elusive feather-spewing hole.

Windows:
Brrr….Why oh why do we feel like we’re winter camping in a snow cave in our lovely master bedroom? Not so luxurious… That humungo thin window is NOT keeping the cold out. We have to cover ourselves with every camping blanket we can find and, maybe one possible advantage, we cuddle together to prevent chattering teeth and hypothermia. Wouldn’t an energy-efficient window be grand? I also dream of a fireplace and often pray for an electric blanket. My favorite has to be the warm, yet very odd, blanket my husband brought from his mission to Korea. Sporting a giant head of a lion, it is neither swanky nor sophisticated.

Paint:

Our bedroom is brown. No, not beige. Chocolate milk brown and mud pie brown. One wall is that brown that’s so brown it’s almost black. Convinced that would be the first thing I painted in our home I started painting color samples right onto that wall. I’ve since learned it makes much more sense to put those samples on white poster board. That way you can move it around the room to see what it looks like in all the lighting situations and most importantly you’re not messing up your walls in the meantime. Three years later it still looks like a half-baked project. And…a little bit ghetto. (What!? Why wouldn’t that look good with a Hello Kitty pillow case and a Lion head blanket?)

That’s why this year; I’m requesting a warm and cozy romantic bedroom for my anniversary.
            (Wouldn’t you?)

Love and kisses

Font trouble.

Why does the font size on my blog make me so unhappy?
It's either too big or too small. I'm still trying to figure this out. On a positive note...I got it to snow.

Girl Obama!

My 8 year old daughter saw Michelle Obama on TV pledging her support for Haiti.

She points and excitedly says,
 "Look! It's girl Obama!"

So if you'd like to support "Girl Obama" in her cause, a very simple way to do that is to use your cell phone and text HAITI to 9-0-9-9-9 and $10 will automatically be given to the American Red Cross.
