A Night at the Ballet with Kurt Bestor's Dad

Last night the hubby and I, along with our daughter, went to see Cydie Adam's production of the Nutcracker. It was AMAZING. It was so well done and beautiful! Sitting alone next to Steve was an older, but handsome, gentleman with a cane. He was so charming and friendly! He proclaimed himself to be my daughter's grandpa for the evening. Turns out, he is Kurk Bestor's father! It was an honor to meet him and quite honestly, for that night, he really did feel like family.

The Thanksgiving Tree

This is the annual Post Family Thanksgiving tradition. Something I saw in a BH&G magazine after we were first married and we've done it every year since. So last Monday I wandered around in the backyard looking for a branch we could use. I had to cut a lot of thorns off this one, but I think it turned out great! For Family Home Evening we had a lesson about gratitude and then we each took turns saying what we are thankful for and I wrote them on the maple leaves. It's been pretty funny some of the things the kids have come up with each year, but I always know it's sincere. And nothing melts my heart more than to hear my sweet little kiddos say they are thankful for Heavenly Father or Jesus and even buzzing bees and each other. It's just that simple. Gratitude makes us smile!

5 Staples and a Bear Named, Boo Boo

Okay...So we've added another story to tell when our kids get older. The one where child #3 dressed up in his mom's spar gear and knocked child #4 into a bench. Then mom runs over to console said child only to realize that the wet stuff on the back of his head isn't actually sweat...its blood. *Sigh* "It's time to go to Urgent Care...again." This weeks episode resulted in 5 staples.

At Urgent Care, waiting to be seen. He's in pretty good spirits.
Do you like how we bandaged him? That's a paper towel on the back of his head if you were wondering.

He was so brave and so sweet, everyone at the UC showered him with gifts. He made out with a lolly pop, a stuffed bear, and a football! For the first time in my life, I feel like I actually got my money's worth! He went to sleep with his little bear last night. This morning he hopped out of bed happy as can be and informed me that his bear's name is, Boo Boo. (Nice choice...)

Excitement rules over fear & pain!

I promised my dd that she could get her ears pierced for her 8th birthday. As the day approached I started wondering what I was thinking! Little girls grow up too fast now days and this is one of those things that will push her straight into womanhood, right? I had to wait until I was thirteen! I guess I was really thinking she looks super cute in earrings and I was tired of wasting my money on stick-ons that always ended up dangling from a strand of hair next to her ear. My other thought was that turning 8 seems perfectly symbolic...

Totally excited standing outside of the mall. Ready to go!

Marking where the hole will go. Ouch!

Did this girl even flinch? No. She was much too giddy to care! I didn't even know if she had felt anything until she said with a huge smile and giggles. "That kind of hurt really bad."

Celebrating with a smoothie.

"Oh yeah, Oh yeah. I have pierced ears. I have earrings..." Just a little song she's been singing ever since Monday afternoon.

Oh, I love this boy!

Here are a few of the pictures I took of this little cutie on Sunday afternoon in our backyard.

Halloween Fun!

Do you remember when you were a kid?.... The candy was never this good! I remember finding those consistent Halloween candy staples in my bucket every year. This included the ever popular Bit-O-Honey, rock hard Double Bubble, tootsie rolls, smarties, and....a penny. If you were ever given a mini-chocolate bar you knew that was the house to hit every year because they gave the BEST candy EVER!!!

Look at the stuff my kids got this year: Full-sized bars, bags of chips, chewy body parts and even cans of soda! And yes... the dentist down the street gave out toothbrushes again this year and my kids were excited to brush their teeth before bed. Thanks "Ellen's dad"!

Alas....we are shameless Ghost Hunter Groupies. I saved a few bucks by creating these shirts myself with a computer and iron-on printer paper. Clever.... I know.

A Halloween thumbs up from "Eye-gore".

She wanted to be a vampire fairy for Halloween. Unfortunately Mother's amateur makeup job made her look more like a Vampire Geisha Fairy. But she's still the sweetest little blood sucker on the block.

Don't let the rainbow stripped suspenders fool you.... He is NOT one of the village people.

A Pirate, A Vampiress Fairy, Batman, & Bob.

ARGGG ye scurvy pirates!

Move over Christian Bale....
